Shrub did it again. Kyle Busch dominated Bristol's Food City 500 Sprint Cup race today in Tennessee. I love NASCAR, but I have to admit that it was a pretty boring race for the most part. Kyle headed to the front early and didn't let up for most of the 500 laps. Short tracks tend to have either many wrecks/cautions or long runs. There were a total of nine yellow flags, but no major wreckage (which is a good thing for all involved). And, happily, my boy Jeff Gordon wracked up another Top 5 finish (his third Top 5 in five races, fourth Top 10) and has stretched his points lead in the 2009 Standings by even more by finishing 4th today. And a quick shout out to Kasey Kahne for finishing 5th, too. Way to go, Kasey!
Did anyone else think it was a pretty boring race? Go ahead, tell me I'm an idiot if you think so. It's not that I want anyone to get seriously hurt. And, when Kyle bumped his teammate Denny Hamlin to go to the front of the pack, I didn't think that was so awful (even though I am definitely NOT a Shrub fan) because he didn't spin Denny to get ahead. I don't agree that spinning someone is just racing. Rubbin' is racin' means a little bump here and there is not a big deal. Spinning IS a big deal. That's chicken-(censored) racing to me. Anyway, stay tuned to Fox next Sunday at 1:30pm ET for more short track racing at Martinsville.
