Who says it never rains in Southern California? On Monday, I had the distinct pleasure of finally meeting face-to-face with a wonderful friend I met here in the Rain: Mary Yonkers. And, let me tell ya...her profile photo doesn't do her justice. She is even more beautiful in person. She and her husband were at the tail end of a fabulous Alaskan cruise and I even got an exclusive sneak peek at the photos from her trip. Thanks to fellow 'Rainer Russell Ray, Mary, her sweet husband Dave and I met up at The Beach House in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. We got to have fabulous conversation, great food and wonderful views for a couple of hours. Mary and I got along like old friends. We all even laughed while watching a couple of people teach their dog how to surf. Only in Southern California will you see a dog in a lifejacket successfully standing upright on a surfboard on a random Monday morning. The dog did much better than I think I ever could. However does a dog scrunch up its paws to hold onto the board? As we said our goodbyes, I knew that I had Active Rain to thank for bringing me such a great new friend. I think I'm going to have to make a trip back east to see Mary and Dave again. I had such a wonderful time just having lunch. Who knows what we could accomplish with more time on our hands? Poor Dave will NEVER get a word in edgewise!
